Adding Placeholders in PPT and Layouts

Question is – Additional placeholders to be added to their template ?

I think the problem is that PPT can’t tell what placeholder maps to what existing placeholder under the hood.

Generally speaking, you shouldn’t remove or add placeholders to the default layouts (for a few different reasons). Instead, create a new layout (or dupe an existing one) and add the placeholder to that. If I recall correctly, it works better if you create a new layout because you create the content placeholder then the other placeholder and that order helps under the hood. You might have to experiment with creating the placeholders in a different order. (It’s been awhile since I looked at this, so I’m not sure I’m remembering specifically. I’ll try to look at it again later today if I can.)
